Codemasters F1 2019 to feature Microtransactions
In a surprising move from game developer Codemasters it has been announced that the new F1 game in their series, F1 2019, will feature micro transactions. Released on the 28th June 2019, the new game has a focus on customisation and this is seemingly where Codemasters have sensed an opportunity to incorporate this new system.
Initially tested on the F1 Mobile game which offered players the opportunity to pay for upgrade packs, skills sets and custom skins, the game developer has decided the new game is the opportunity to test whether micro transactions is the way forward for the series.
Despite players paying £60 for the new game, Codemasters have also confirmed that there will be cash options to buy within the game, a move that is likely to prove unpopular with the devoted fan base. Other popular racing series such as Gran Turismo Sport and Forza Motorsport also had micro transactions on released but were later removed.
How far this micro transaction system is implemented into the game remains to be seen but all will be revealed on the 28th June 2019.
